Despite having only being available for a short while, Cold Stone Creamery has already founded itself as a leader in premium ice cream. The chain is known for its wide variety of mix-ins, which allow for large number of flavor combinations.
The franchise originated from Tempe, AZ, in 1988. Opened by Donald and Susan Sutherland, it subsequently spread across Arizona, and soon after, the rest of the United States and around the globe. The chain merged with Kahala Corp. in 2007.
Currently, you will find approximately 1,400 Cold Stone franchises in operation domestically and in foreign countries.
In order to be a franchisee, you have to submit an application and start to become approved because of the company. Many other fast food franchises have startup costs that are at least double that of opening a Cold Stone, which makes it one of the most inexpensive franchising options.
